This year the A. Eric Arctander Artist Grant of $1,000.00 will be shared by two talented artists who have demonstrated through their body of work , a capability to expand their growth as artists. Both Kendra Shedenhelm and Lance Johnson have very different approaches to making art, both in subject matter and technique. The two artists who will be sharing the grant based on their art submissions and how they will use the grant.
They will be receiving their grants on October 15 at the annual Fine Arts Show opening, from 2 to 4 pm. at the Putnam Arts Council. The Arts Center is located at 521 Kennicut Hill Rd. in Mahopac, New York. A sample of each of their work will be on display during the Fine Arts Show.
Family and friends created the grant in 2014 to honor Eric’s legacy as an artist, teacher, mentor and friend to artists, assisting them in pursuing a life in art. The grant’s purpose is to provide a mid-career, visual artist with support in their artistic development.
